Bill Ruple is a master at making slip joint folders.  He has taught and inspired so many knifemakers on how to make folding knives, that it's almost impossible to list them.  You have to hold one of Bill's knives to truly appreciate the fit and finish, and his attention to detail.  He has been making knives since 1988.  The quality of his knives has been consistent throughout his career.  He has made knives with from one to five blades.  No matter what he makes or what show he attends, he always sells out - and quickly!

This Bill Ruple large two-blade Trapper features a hand-rubbed Clip Point blade and Spey blade, both made from CPM-154 stainless steel.  Both blades have half stops.  Both blades have ample nail nicks with firm, smooth pulls.  The handle scales are two beautifully matched and richly colored pieces of presentation grade Amber Stag.  The front and rear bolsters are 416 stainless steel, as are the liners and pins.  The outer liners are integral to the bolsters.  The oval-shaped shield is also 416 stainless.  Bill has done some beautiful matching file-work on the outer liners, and a different pattern file-work on the center liner.  In addition, I was told by the original owner that the engraving on the front and rear bolsters was done by Bill, and that this was the first knife he engraved after taking the GRS Engraving class.  Bill did not sign the engraving and the original owner confirmed that he spoke to Bill, and unfortunately Bill didn't recall.  It is extremely well done, clean and symmetrical.  Bill's tolerances, and fit and finish, are second to none.  Bill has also stamped "RUPLE" on the ricasso of the clip point blade.  Both blades lock up tight and are centered between their respective liners.  This knife had one previous owner and is in mint condition, like new.  Comes in a padded, zippered case.
