J.R. Cook was commissioned by a very good customer to make this knife in 2009.  It is J.R.'s reproduction of the famous 1830's Musso Bowie.  The blade was forged from 5160 steel, and the handle was made from Oak.  All the fittings, which include the back along the spine of the blade, S-guard, and spacer / bolster are made of solid Brass.  J.R. is an ABS Master Smith, earning his rating in 1991.  He is also a member of the Arkansas Knifemakers Association.  In 2007 the Arkansas Heritage Commission ceremoniously awarded him the title of Arkansas Living Treasure.

Included with the knife will be the original Certificate of Registration (#20090901) with J.R.'s embossed stamp, which is made out to the original owner who commissioned the knife.  We acquired the knife directly from him.  The Certificate and $25 can be sent to J.R. Cook in Nashville, AR, and he will reissue it in the name of the new owner.  In the interest of full disclosure, the new owner will see the original purchase price of the knife on the Certificate.  Please note that Windy City Knives paid a premium price to acquire the knife.  Also included with the knife is a J.R. Cook coin good for $100 in trade on a future purchase.

The knife is in excellent condition.  The blade is in great condition, having been well cared for and stored properly.  The oak handle is also in excellent condition.  This knife has never been used, carried or re-sharpened.  The only thing to note is the fact that the brass fittings have developed a patina over the past 7 years.  I could have easily polished it nice and shiny before the pictures were taken, but I felt that would be best left to the new owner.  It will come in a padded zippered case - no sheath.  If you need a sheath (although you are not likely to carry it), I would suggest contacting Kenny Rowe at Rowe's Leather.
