Jim Crowell is well-known for his flawless forging ability.  This large Bowie knife is testament to his outstanding work and attention to detail.  It is in excellent condition, to near mint condition.  I found one (1) barely visible pinpoint spot on the blade.  The knife is on consignment from the collection of another world renown Mastersmith.  He acquired it directly from Jim, and it has been in his collection since.  Being a Mastersmith himself, the knife was well cared for, and stored properly.  This Mastersmith is "thinning" out his collection, and Windy City Knives is honored to have been appointed as his chosen purveyor.

I recently showed the knife to Jim, and he recalled forging the blade from O1 Tool Steel, and creating the hamon with a torch - pretty cool!  The top edge of the clip point blade is not sharpened.  He recalled the handle being either Ebony or African Blackwood.  The guard is nickel silver.  Jim's signature "Shooting Star" M.S. maker's mark is stamped on the tang.  The blade grinds and geometry are perfect.  Comes in a zippered case - there is no sheath.  If you wanted to design your own sheath, I would not hesitate recommending Kenny Rowe Leathers.  They have a great deal of experience making quality sheaths, and working with ABS knives.  This one would be a great addition to any collection.  Jim's knives are well-respected among both makers and collectors.
