This is one of Joe Keeslar's outstanding Mastersmith Bowies.  This is a sizable knife, with great feel in-hand.  These days, Joe is known for his rustic looking Brut De Forge fixed blade knives.  To find a Keeslar Bowie of this size is rare.  This knife was acquired from the original owner, who purchased it from Joe at a Blade Show approximately 8 years ago.  It has been stored outside the sheath, in a climate controlled environment, and kept coated in oil.  It has never been used.  There are however, a few minor carbon spots on the blade that can be seen on both sides in the accompanying pictures.  They are small, and could easily be buffed out.  Joe consistently produces quality work, even dating back to his days as a Journeyman Smith.  His knives are highly sought after, and in-demand by collectors.

The information we have about this knife is from the previous owner.  We were told that the clip point-shaped blade was forged from 1084 carbon steel.  At its thickest point (forward of the guard), the blade is 0.320" thick.  Joe's grinds are amazing - perfectly symmetrical.  The top clip is sharpened, but to a lesser degree than the blade edge.  The guard is nickel silver, and the handle is a nicely figured piece of stag in perfect condition.  There is a fluted silver butt cap with what looks like a copper pin in the center, and there is an ornate silver front bolster / spacer behind the guard.  The leather cowboy belt sheath was made by Joe, and has tool work and a star concho.  This knife would make a great addition to any collection, and most certainly would be right at home in the field.

Condition:  Previously owned.  Excellent condition; minor peppering as noted.
