We can't say enough about this stunning knife.  When we first got it in we were blown away by the art, craftsmanship and history.  This one is an extremely rare, and most likely one-of-a-kind knife.  This is destined to be the focal point of any knife collection.  The owner of the knife relayed the story of the knife to us, based on a conversation he had with Randall about a year and a half ago.  Randall made the knife for a Blade Show about 15 or more years ago.  It was one of Randall's most expensive knives at the time.  It took him several weeks to design the knife, before he even began building it.  He recalls that Randall told him it was the first knife he made with what he called the "rolling pizza cutter blade tang".  Apparently, he got the idea while roaming the aisles of a supermarket and seeing a pizza cutter.  He thought that it would make an interesting design to deploy a folding knife.  Randall also credits his friend and neighbor at the time, Mastersmith Don Fogg for helping him refine his Damascus forging skills.  Don Fogg also skillfully crafted the sculpted titanium handle scales for the knife.  To find such an exceptional folder made by the collaboration of renowned Mastersmith Don Fogg and Randall Gilbreath is a rarity.  Don Fogg, who was one of the early Mastersmiths (1997) is now retired, but was one of the true teachers of the craft of knifemaking.  Don didn't make many folders, so finding one he collaborated on is like finding hen's teeth!

The knife has some outstanding features.  The blade is forged Damascus, the frame is salt bath anodized Damascus, the bolsters are anodized, and the jeweled titanium liners are also anodized.  There is file-work on the spine of the blade, as well as matching file-work on the back spacer.  The liner lock locks up tight with no blade play when opened, and the blade is seated centered when closed.  The subtle colors of the anodizing are really what sets off this exquisite knife.  The frame is a beautiful blue hue, the bolsters have a gold-green color on the outer ring with purple in the center wheel, and the liners are also a matching purple color.  And Don Fogg's titanium overlays have an antique bronze look to them.  You really have to hold this one in your hand to get the full effect, and see and feel the workmanship...it's very cool!
