Bill Ruple Stag Texas Toothpick, File-Worked Spring and Liners, Slip-Joint Folding Knife (SOLD)
Bill Ruple is a master at making slip joint folders. He has taught and inspired so many knifemakers on how to make folding knives, that it's almost impossible to list them.
You have to hold one of Bill's knives to truly appreciate the fit and finish, and his attention to detail. He has been making knives since 1988. The quality of his knives has been consistent throughout his career. No matter what show he attends, he always sells out - and quickly!
This Texas Toothpick slip-joint folder features a CPM-154 stainless steel blade stamped "RUPLE" on the ricasso, and Amber Stag scales with a 416 stainless steel shield also stamped "RUPLE". The fluted front and rear bolsters have shadow lines and are 416 stainless steel. The pins are also 416 stainless. The blade has a half-stop, locks up tight with no blade
play, and the blade is well-seated, sitting ever so slightly to side B. There is file-work done by Bill on the spring, which continues onto the blade spine for about 1 1/4". The liners have also been file-worked. This knife is previously owned and has some fine handling/storage marks on the bolster. There is a minute flea bite size ding on side B of the front bolster. Impossible to photograph and barely visible in-hand. Could be buffed out? Nice walk-and-talk from the master! Comes in a Bill's Custom padded case.
