Crusader Forge APEX XL 0.25", "Maciej's Personal Knife" 1 of 1 (SOLD)
The Crusader Forge APEX XL frame-lock folder was introduced by master bladesmith and designer Maciej Szczerbiak at the 2017 Blade Show. It is larger version of his wildly popular APEX model. Crusader Forge Custom Knives are designed for extreme and hard use. All Crusader Forge knives are 100% custom handcrafted by Maciej. They are 100% made in U.S.A. from domestic steel and materials. His blade material is Triple Tempered CPM S30V Stainless Steel with an HRC of 59-60. Each Crusader Forge knife handle is custom fabricated. They are custom textured to ensure positive hold, regardless of your grip configuration. The handles are fastened to the knife using Stainless Steel Fasteners with Torx™ T25 drive for maximum strength. Each knife design is prototyped and function tested against various materials such as wood, rope, muscle, bone, sheet metal and anything else Maciej may have left in the shop that has reached the end of its useful life. Edge holding characteristics, transverse toughness and cutting ability are all evaluated prior to finalizing a knife design.
This Apex XL features a 0.25" thick CPM S30V stainless steel blade done in Maciej's signature Phantom finish, with a long oblong thumb opener for right-handed opening. The handle is titanium, done in a bronze stonewashed finish, with a matching pocket clip and brass pivot on the presentation side. The frame-lock holds the blade open rock solid - no movement whatsoever - and there is no lock stick when releasing the lock bar. The blade runs on bearings, drops shut and is seated centered in the handle when closed. The knife was purchased directly from Maciej's pocket at the 2017 Blade Show, so it does not come in a Crusader Forge box. However, Maciej took the time to write a Certificate of Authenticity, indicating that not only is it a "ONE OF ONE", but that it was also "MPK" (Maciej's Personal Knife). This knife is previously owned and in excellent condition. It was in Maciej's pocket, but never made it to the next owner's pocket. It looks like new. Some very minor signs of wear on the frame, if you scrutinize it under the right lighting and angle. If you own one of Crusader Forge's original Apex folders, you are going to want to have its "BIG Brother". Comes in a padded zippered pouch.
