{"product_id":"daniel-keown-damascus-back-pocket-hand-jigged-bone-slip-joint-folding-knife-copy","title":"Daniel Keown Blued A2 Trapper, Ancient Fossil Material Slip-Joint Folding Knife (SOLD)","description":"\u003cp\u003eDaniel Keown is the skilled craftsman behind Keown Fine Folders.  His passion for knives started from wood carving.  Not satisfied with commercially available knives, he set out to build his own knife.  As a specialty pipe welder, he built his own belt grinder and the rest is, as they say, history.  Building slip-joint knives became his new passion.  He has been fortunate to have several mentors as he has fine-tuned his knifemaking.  He attributes a great deal to Tom Ploppert, and strives to reach Tom's level of quality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOf note is the fact that Daniel won Best Custom Slip Joint at this past year's Blade Show, for a complex build of a custom traditional Sheffield pattern knife.  Daniel is one of those new slip-joint makers to watch!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is Daniel's small Trapper model.  This slip-joint folding knife features a Blued A2 blade and spring, stunning fossil mammoth scales, stainless steel domed pins and shield, and a front bolster integral to the liners.  Please note that Daniel did a \"hot\" blued treatment on the blade versus the more common \"cold\" bluing method used by many knifemakers.  The hot blue process is more durable and is more protective of the A2 steel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe blade has a nicely cut nail nick, with a smooth and even pull that won't break a nail.  The blade has a half-stop, and nice \"walk and talk\".  The blade locks up tight and sits centered between the liners.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is also worth noting that according to the original previous owner who spoke with Daniel, he has stopped making Trappers.  This knife is one of the last ones he made.  He is focusing more on original patterns.  This one also has his old school maker's mark stamp, rather than his current lasered mark.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Trapper comes with the pictured Keown Fine Folder metal tin with custom cut foam insert and leather lid liner, cleaning cloth, Band-Aid and metal COA.  This knife came from the original owner and was new from Daniel at Blade Show 2025.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCondition:  Excellent.
