This is Darrel Ralph's iconic AXD frame-lock flipper folder.  The AXD has been a big hit since Darrel introduced it in 2002, and it continues to have a large fan base.  It has a very unique ergonomic feel that is like an extension of your hand, regardless of size. The back of the frame has a built in pommel for those times when you may need to crack something open.

However, this is a very rare AXD.  In addition to Darrel's "Darrel Ralph Designs" logo on the presentation side of the blade, it is also marked "PROTO 02JL" on the lock side of the blade.  It features a hand rubbed, satin finished 4" Tanto blade.  The blade is Spring-Assisted, and fires like a rocket.  The titanium frame has been flame anodized in a very cool looking random pattern.  The clip is also titanium, set for tip down carry, and it too has been flame anodized.  The blade design and flipper tab serve as an upper and lower finger guard when opened.  There is jimping on the lower "guard" for a secure grip.  This knife was acquired directly from Darrel at a Blade Show several years ago.  I personally purchased it from him.  He was carrying the knife, showed it to me, and I made him an offer.  The rest, as they say, is history.  Since it has been carried, it is not mint, but it certainly is in excellent condition.  If you look hard enough, you'll find a minor rub on the titanium frame and clip.  The blade appears to have never cut anything, and it certainly has not been sharpened, other than originally by Darrel.  The blade sits dead center in the frame, and the lock-up is rock.  The frame-lock has an easy lock release, as well.  It will come in a padded zippered case.
