Harvey Dean, M.S. Stag Camp Knife (SOLD)

This is a Harvey Dean stag and carbon steel Camp Knife.  Harvey is a master at making both fixed blade knives and folders.  He is consistently producing outstanding pieces that are highly coveted by collectors and users alike.  His grinds, and fit and finish are second to none.  To hold a Harvey Dean knife in your hand is the only way to truly appreciate the craftsmanship and balance.  Harvey forged the blade of 1084 carbon steel.  The large pins are 416 stainless steel.  And the handle is made from two (2) very nice slabs of stag.  The blade tang is slightly tapered, and there is jimping on the blade spine for better tactile feel and control.  This knife feels great in your hand, and would serve you well at the campsite.  This is a somewhat older build, previously owned, but acquired directly from Harvey by the first and only owner.  The stag is in perfect condition.  The knife is unused, and has never been sharpened.  In spite of it being religiously coated in oil and stored in a safe, there is some evidence of a couple of tiny pepper (carbon) spots in 2 or 3 places.  I have photograph the worse areas - which aren't really bad.  There is no sheath.  I would highly recommend contacting Kenny Rowe of Rowe's Leathers if you want one.  The knife will be shipped in a padded, zippered case.  This is an outstanding example of Harvey's work.
