Kevin Hoffman KLH Mid-Size Friction Folder, Westinghouse Micarta (SOLD)
This Kevin Hoffman mid-size friction folder is brand new and
direct from Kevin's shop in Savannah, GA. The handle is quite unique. It is made from old Westinghouse Paper Micarta - the good stuff! Over time, it will age and develop a beautiful patina of yellow and orange, with markings that resemble natural material. You can begin to see the color change if you look closely inside the handle and on the edges of the scales. The blade is made from
ATS-34
stainless steel, beautifully satin finished. Kevin's grinds are
outstanding. The pivot screw and pins are all stainless steel. There
is a red linen micarta butt spacer with Kevin's "KLH - GA" maker's mark
engraved in it. He has also accented both sides of the rear of the
handle with a mosaic pin, as well as a mosaic pin on the opening lever. The
blade opens smoothly - use the lever to get it started. The
blade has just the right amount of friction tension when opening. Kevin
sets them snug, although the tension is adjustable with the pivot
screw. When the blade is closed, it sits nicely centered between the handle.
Kevin's fit and finish are a testament to has art background and
attention to detail. Comes in one of Kevin's signature denim pouches.
This is a very cool piece!
