Alex Daniels Lock-Back Gents Folder, Pearl Escutcheons (SOLD)
Alex Daniels Lock-Back Gents Folder, Pearl Escutcheons (SOLD)
Alex Daniels has been making knives for over 50 years. He made his first knife in high school from the only material available at the time...an old file. He continued making knives part-time while in the United States Navy, and became a full-time maker after retiring. He is member of the American Bladesmith Society, and a member of the Knifemakers' Guild since 1982. He is also an instructor at Jim Batson's Hammer-In. He is best known for his reproductions of old original Bowies. All of his knives are made by hand from start to finish, including his own heat treating. This gentleman's lock-back folder has a stainless steel frame with beautiful fiery Mother of Pearl inlays on both side of the handle. The blade is either 440C or BG42, two steels that Alex likes using on his knives. There is also file-work around the thumbstud. A very slick little knife. The knife is on consignment from the collection of a world renown Mastersmith. He acquired it directly from Alex, and it has been in his collection since. Being a Mastersmith himself, the knife was well cared for, and stored properly. This Mastersmith is thinning out his collection, and Windy City Knives is honored to have been appointed as his chosen purveyor. The blade is in perfect condition. The stainless steel frame is in excellent condition. Upon very close inspection you may find some fine surface swirls from handling. The blade opens and closes silky smooth. It locks up tight with no blade play, and sits centered in the frame when closed. The knife will come in a storage case. This is a great piece to add to your collection.
