Bill Ruple Two-Blade Saddlehorn Trapper, Rob Thomas Damascus, File-Worked Liners (SOLD)

Bill Ruple Two-Blade Saddlehorn Trapper, Rob Thomas Damascus, File-Worked Liners (SOLD)

Bill Ruple is a master at making slip joint folders.  He has taught and inspired so many knifemakers on how to make folding knives, that it's almost impossible to list them.  You have to hold one of Bill's knives to truly appreciate the fit and finish, and his attention to detail.  He has been making knives since 1988.  The quality of his knives has been consistent throughout his career.  He has made knives with from one to five blades.  No matter what he makes or what show he attends, he always sells out - and quickly! This large two-blade Saddlehorn Trapper comes directly from Bill's shop in Texas.  It features a clip point blade and a spey blade, both made from Rob Thomas stainless Damascus.  Both blades have half stops.  Both blades have ample nail nicks for their firm, yet smooth pulls.  The jigged bone scales are deeply contoured and richly colored.  The bolster is 416 stainless steel, as are the liners, pins, and shield.  Bill has fluted the bolster, for a classy upscale look to the knife.  Two patterns of absolutely impeccable file-work highlights the top of the liners, including the center liner.  It gives the backspring a mesmerizing appearance.  There is an inlaid large oval shield marked RUPLE, and Bill has also stamped the clip point blade.  Both blades lock up tight with no play, and the blade seating of each is dead center inside their respective liners.  The fit and finish on Bill's knives are second to none.  Bill does the walk-and-talk like very few can.  Comes in a padded, zippered case.  Damn, this one is so nice, I was tempted to keep it for my collection!
