Burt Flanagan BackPocket, Westinghouse Micarta, Abalone Shield, Slip-Joint Folding Knife (SOLD)
Burt Flanagan BackPocket, Westinghouse Micarta, Abalone Shield, Slip-Joint Folding Knife (SOLD)
Burt Flanagan is a part-time slip-joint knifemaker from Whitewright, TX. He has been making knives since 2015 and is a second generation knifemaker. He has been a member of the Knifemakers' Guild since 2019. He currently sits on the Board of Directors. Burt is also a member of the Texas SlipJoint Cartel, whose members are a who's who of top tier slip-joint knifemakers. Burt is a student of Bill Ruple, or as I like to refer to the many who Bill has mentored, a Ruple Pupil. Burt has learned well and should definitely be on your radar. He has taken Bill's advice to heart, and strives to make each knife better than his last. His goal is to build a knife that is functionally beautiful and will last a lifetime. This knife is Brand New and direct from Burt's table at Blade Show Texas 2022. This is Burt's slightly scaled down version of Tony Bose's BackPocket slip-joint folding knife. It features a hand-rubbed CPM-154 stainless steel blade, 416 stainless steel bolster and pins, and 410 stainless steel liners that have been relieved. The scales are vintage Westinghouse Micarta. Burt has inlaid an Abalone Federal Shield into the presentation side of the handle - no small feat. The blade features a half-stop, locks up tight with no blade play, and the blade seating is just about at center. Nice long nail pull, that is both firm and smooth. Walks and talks too. An awesome piece of work from the student of the master! Comes in a BF Flanagan Knives padded, zippered case.
