Gary Mulkey Large Recurve Bowie, Desert Ironwood, W-1 Tool Steel (SOLD)
Gary Mulkey Large Recurve Bowie, Desert Ironwood, W-1 Tool Steel (SOLD)
Gary lives in Branson, MO where he has been a full-time knifemaker since 1997. He still hand forges each blade, as well as makes his own Damascus steel. All of his knives are sole ownership. Gary has received multiple awards at major knife shows for his work, and has been featured in Blade, Knives Illustrated, Knife World and Knife magazines. I recently met Gary Mulkey at the Art of Steel Show in Little Rock, AR in February 2017. Gary is a helluva nice guy, and had a nice selection of both forged carbon steel and Damascus Bowies on his table - all very impressive. I landed on this particular knife because of the large recurve blade - it just looked very cool. The blade is forged from W-1 tool steel. The handle is Desert Ironwood, and the S-shaped guard and pommel are polished wrought iron. The nut on the pommel is 416 stainless, and is attached to the tang. The handle ain't moving - the construction is rock solid. The knife's blade has some minor sheath / grit marks, that are only seen at angles and certain lighting. Gary marks the ricasso of the blade with MUL and the image of a skeleton key. He provides a nice tooled leather, frog button sheath, with the knife. This is a great knife to take out in the field. It will get the job done without breaking the bank. It is being offered at Gary's table price.
