Olamic Cutlery Original Rainmaker Classic, Serial #068
Olamic Cutlery Original Rainmaker Classic, Serial #068
Olamic Cutlery is a family run business, started in 2010 with the goal of making usable, custom, handmade knives at a fair price. The knives are made from the best materials and display excellent fit and finish. Whether you are a collector or a user, they are built to meet your needs. The flipping action is smooth as silk, they lock up like a bank vault, and the lock is easy to release. Windy City Knives is privileged to be a dealer for Olamic, and is proud to offer their knives.
According to the Olamic Cutlery website, "The Rainmaker was the second folding knife model to come out of our California shop. Released in May 2015 its first run was only about 100 pieces. Designed by Alexander Birykov, the idea was to have a straight knife but with character. Its slim handle carries well in the pocket and efficiently hides a hefty 4.125" blade. For the first run we used an interesting Nitrogen-based steel called Z-Finit and then switched to Carpenter's powder metals. Each knife has a unique serial number on the inside of the backspacer".
This original Rainmaker Classic was brand new when it was acquired in the Fall of 2016. It is serial #068 and the COA is dated 10-13-16. I was so impressed with this model that I decided to keep it in my collection. It has been stored in a climate controlled safe since new, never used, carried or sharpened. Shortly after that I purchased three (3) additional Rainmakers in 2017 from Olamic. Those three (3) Rainmakers are seen in the last photo, featured and borrowed from the Olamic Cutlery website. They all sold shortly after they were offered. They can still be viewed if you search the Windy City Knives website. I have now decided it is time to move this last new beauty on to another collector.
This Rainmaker Classic is a liner-lock flipper, with thick liners. It features a harpoon-shaped CTS-XHP stainless steel blade with a matte finish. The scales are brown canvas Micarta, and the bolsters are titanium, as are the handle, liners, backspacer and tip-up mounted pocket clip. Everything has a matte finish, like the blade. The blade runs on caged bearings, and exhibits amazing flipping action - fast, effortless and with authority - no wrist action required. It has excellent detent, solid lock-up, little to no lock-stick and perfect blade seating. It comes in a rigid, zippered Olamic Tactical case for storage, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. I am also including a leather belt sheath made by D.M. Bullard in Azle, TX. It is not new, but it fits and works perfectly. My original intention was to add this knife to my daily rotation, but we all know how that goes sometimes. It was never used.
