Phil Boguszewski COBRA PROTOTYPE, Liner-Lock Flipper Folding Knife
Phil Boguszewski COBRA PROTOTYPE, Liner-Lock Flipper Folding Knife
Phil Boguszewski was from Lakewood, WA. He began making knives in 1979 and sold his first knife that same year. He specialized in folding knives that were known for their ultra-smooth action, tight tolerances and outstanding fit-and-finish. He was also know for his kindness and friendly personality. Phil's flipper knives set the standard in the industry. They were known for their fast deployment and smooth action. He is highly and widely regarded as one of the best flipper makers, even to this day. His knives are high demand by collectors. He joined the Knifemakers’ Guild as a probationary member in 1984 and became a voting member in 1986. Phil passed away in 2013.
This outstanding example of Phil's work is his liner-lock Cobra Prototype without a thumbstud. The stainless steel blade has a slight recurve to the edge profile. It is marked "BOGUSZEWSKI LAKEWOOD, WA" and next to that "Prototype". The scales are thick anodized blue titanium, with a pattern that I think Phil referred to as "Dragon Skin". The liners are thick titanium, jeweled on the inside and anodized a purplish color. Black Micarta backspacer. There is also an anodized blue titanium pocket clip set for tip-down carry.
The knife is in excellent to essentially near new condition. It has never been carried or used. It flips effortlessly with your index finger and no wrist needed. It locks up tight without any blade play. There is no lock stick, and the blade sits dead center between the liners when closed. Comes in a Bill's Custom Case. Surely a Grail for any collector!
