Steve Dumchus Nova Blades Custom San Mai Damascus CAIMAN Frame-Lock Flipper (SOLD)
Steve Dumchus Nova Blades Custom San Mai Damascus CAIMAN Frame-Lock Flipper (SOLD)
Steve Dumchus is the owner and knifemaker of Nova Blades in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Steve is an extremely talented, up-and-coming maker, who has developed a loyal following. It's no small wonder, the quality of his knives is outstanding. And the materials he uses, and his attention to detail are among the best. The Caiman is one of his most desirable models. It is a well-built, tactical frame-lock flipper with excellent ergonomics. The slim frame and reverse tanto shaped blade makes it a perfect everyday carry tactical folder. The blade is made from Chad Nichols CTS-XHP Core San Mai Damascus, with an acid etched finish - please note the lighter area seen on the locking side of the blade is a reflection of the lighting. The acid etched finish is uniform and perfectly done. The contoured titanium frame has a dark stonewashed finish, accented with a gold multifaceted pivot and tip-up Damascus pocket clip. Steve has also dressed-up the knife with a Damascus backspacer. And the entire knife is constructed with Torx screws, making it easy to adjust. The lines of the knife are clean and crisp, with great attention to detail and fit-and-finish. It has excellent detent, and flips fast and with authority, thanks to Steve's use of caged bearings. When you flip it open, you get that satisfying thwack when the lock bar engages. You can also use the right-handed, black thumb bar to open it without using the flipper tab. The lock-up is early and secure. The blade has an easy lock release, and is centered in the frame when closed. The knife was previously owned, and is in near mint condition. I cannot find anything of note. Comes in a Nova Blades padded, button snap case.
