Steve Dunn, M.S. Large Stag Fighter, 52100 Steel (SOLD)
Steve Dunn, M.S. Large Stag Fighter, 52100 Steel (SOLD)
This is a large Steve Dunn, M.S. carbon steel Fighter. This knife is from my personal collection. It was purchased directly from Steve at a Guild Show a number of years ago. It was recently sent back to Steve for a blade buffing and clean-up. In the interest of full disclosure, despite the fact that it was been stored outside the sheath, coated in protective oil in my climate controlled safe, the knife developed some small carbon spots that Steve was able to (for the most part) buff out. That doesn't mean that if you looked under magnification you wouldn't find something tiny / faint, or a buffing mark. It has never been used, carried or sharpened. The blade is forged from 52100 steel (top clip has not been sharpened), and the handle is two (2) nicely matched dark stag scales in perfect condition of mortise construction with stainless pins. The guard is also 416 stainless steel. Steve is also a Master Engraver and teaches at the GRS Engraving School in Emporia, KS. This knife has great lines, is well balanced, and feels great in your hand. This is an outstanding example of Steve's forging ability. Steve is not making many fixed blade knives these days. If you're lucky, he may have one at his table at a Blade Show. You're more likely to find him working on a slip-joint folder or engraving a knife or gun. This would be a great addition to any collection. If Steve were to make this same knife today, it would be priced at $1600. It will come in a padded zippered case - no sheath. If you need a sheath, I would suggest contacting Kenny Rowe at Rowe's Leather .
