Steve Dunn M.S. "Lucky Hunter" Damascus Stag Hunting Knife

Steve Dunn M.S. "Lucky Hunter" Damascus Stag Hunting Knife

Steve Dunn began making knives as a hobby in 1988 and in 1990 enrolled in the basic forging class at the ABS school in Washington, Arkansas, where he started forging his own Damascus.  By 1994 he had reached the level of Master Bladesmith in the American Bladesmith Society and began teaching at the ABS knife-making school.  In 2003 he was selected to serve on the ABS Board of Directors.  And in June 2019 Steve became the President of the ABS.  All of Steve's knives are sole authorship.  In fact, Steve even does his own engraving.  In April 2002, he attended a basic engraving class at the GRS Engraving School in Emporia, Kansas, and is now an instructor at the GRS Engraving School.  Steve is at the top of his game.  His knives are highly sought after by collectors.  And it doesn't hurt that he is a real gentleman and very easy guy to talk to. Steve called this knife the “Lucky Hunter”.  I think the reason should be obvious.  However, if you’re still unsure, look closely at the forged Damascus blade.  There are four and a half, 4-leaf clovers in the pattern.  The blade also has file-work the entire length of the spine.  The mortised handle (hidden tang) is constructed from two very well-matched presentation grade amber stag scales, held by two stainless pins.  The stag has great figure, color and depth.  Steve has expertly engraved a scroll work pattern in the 416 stainless steel single finger guard on both sides, as well as on top.  He has put 24K gold in both his “DUNN” maker’s mark and “M.S.” stamps.  This knife came to Windy City Knives from the one previous owner, and in excellent condition.  Of note is the small scratch in the middle 4-leaf clover on the DUNN side of the blade.  The previous owner claims it has been there since new.  I am sure Steve would be willing to address it.  There is no sheath.  It will come in a padded, zippered case.
