Thad Buchanan New York Special (SOLD)

Thad Buchanan New York Special (SOLD)

Thad Buchanan started making knives in 1986 when Bill Harsey invited him to work with him in his shop.  He attended his first knife show in 1987 where he won Best New Maker award at the OKCA show.  In addition to being helped by Bill Harsey, Thad was also assisted by Bob Lum and Ron Lake.  The fit, finish, form and function of his knives certainly reflect his teachings. This New York Special is a tribute to the original NY Special made by the legendary Bob Loveless.  We believe that Bob's original model had a micarta handle, as does this particular knife.  It is brown linen micarta.  The blade steel is CPM 154-CM, and the bolsters are stainless steel.  It also features red liners, a tapered tang, and a lanyard hole.  The top edge of the blade is sharpened about 1 1/2 back from the tip.  The grinds are shaving sharp.  It comes with the Loveless designed snap leather sheath made by Thad, that snaps directly to the handle of the knife, making it very secure for carry in a vest or jacket pocket. This knife is in absolutely pristine condition.  It is MINT, as though new from the maker. It feels great in-hand.

Condition:  Previously owned. MINT. Never used, carried, or sharpened.
