Tyler Turner PROTOTYPE Slip-Joint Folding Knife, Damasteel Blade, 2018 ICCE (SOLD)
Tyler Turner PROTOTYPE Slip-Joint Folding Knife, Damasteel Blade, 2018 ICCE (SOLD)
Tyler Turner is a part-time knifemaker from Hopkins, MO. He is a full-time farmer and family man. He makes hand-ground folders and fixed blade knives. He strives to be creative and innovative with his designs. He uses only the best materials. His attention to detail is impeccable. This is Tyler's Prototype Slip-Joint folding knife. It is Brand New, direct from Tyler at the 2018 International Custom Cutlery Exposition (ICCE). Tyler has used a Spyderco hole for the opening mechanism. The blade is designed to be opened with one hand, using the hole - a very novel approach for a slip-joint folder. I have watched Tyler do it. And with a little practice, I was able to do it, as well. If you pinch the hole with your thumb and middle finger, you can arc the blade out just far enough to then completely open it the rest of the way with just your thumb - practice, practice, practice. The blade does not have a half-stop, which makes it a bit easier. The knife features a Bifrost Damasteel blade, Timascus bolster, and F50 Carbon Fiber scales. The liners are Titanium. Tyler marked the inside of the liner on one side TURNER, and the other side is marked PROTO.1, since it is the first of its kind. The blade locks up tight with no blade play, and the blade seating is perfectly centered. Comes in a hard plastic clamshell box, with Tyler's signed business card with the knife's specs.
